Seriously, THANK GOD: the heat wave is over!!! For now. Please don't come back, heat-from-Hades, because I hate you. You made me and everyone else so cranky. So hot. So unable to function from sheer lazy hotness.
Thanks to these cooler temperatures (okay, well, they're not exactly cool per-se, but at least they are less hot), I have been able to do some sewing on the porch during the day. The raging heat has made it impossible to be out there during daylight hours, and I have been way too drained at night to try and sew after the kids go to bed. Yesterday I whipped up this wrap skirt in some fabrics from Patty Young's Mezzanine line, and today I'm working on a top to go with it. Except that so far, every time I've tried to fit them on me, my children come hang on me, crying (what's new?). Makes it a tad tricky. I will try to post a pic when I'm done.
In other thoughts, I took a nap today with Wright, and it was HORRIBLE! Have you ever taken a nap and woken up feeling hopelessly groggy and worse than before you laid down?? That was me today. Ugh. Honestly, my head was pounding, and I actually felt even sleepier than when I'd started the nap. Thank God, Sam had a pot of coffee going when I got up, so I fixed myself a glass with ice/cream/sugar, and now I am feeling much better.
Dinner tonight: From-scratch waffles w/whipped cream & strawberries (which feels kind of kinky to be having at my parents' house, honestly), real bacon, uh, more other fruit...and, I dunno. I have to actually get my butt in the kitchen and figure it out. Nevertheless, I am super excited about the waffle part--yay!
